What is good bait for trout?

I’m going fishing this saturday at Silver Springs in Illinois, they just stocked the lake with Rainbow trout, catfish, large and small mouth bass, bluegill and crappie. So can anyone give me advice on bait/lures to use to catch a good number of trout. If possible, a legitimate source would be appreciated. Thanks.

Dear Big Dave—If the fish have been stocked within the last week, they really have not had a chance to figure out the natural food sources and are still conditioned to the hatchery food. Find out what that is in your location and try to simulate that. In my area, corn is effective because it resembles the food the fish are fed at the hatchery. If the fish have been in the River/Lake awhile, try worms and Salmon eggs. Also some of the artificial attractant formulas (Berkely) are effective.
